This is a month of celebrations and remembering.  May Day and flower baskets on the porch, the renewal of spring and a bursting forth of new life.  Mother’s Day and the remembrance of the one who brought us into this world.  For those of us who did not have a loving or nurturing relationship with our Mother, it is a time to reflect on where we are still feeling wounded and bring healing to our own hearts.

I invite you to do a meditation on forgiveness for yourself and your Mother.  I love to rest in the heart of Kuan Yin-Goddess of Mercy and Compassion-and imagine that I am handing over to her all the photos, all the images and moments where I felt wounded, and she receives them, holds them in her heart, and then her love flows over all of that and simply dissolves it into golden light.  This releases everything connected with the stressful moment leaving only love and compassion.

Take a moment to connect in your heart with the Divine Mother, Mother God, Gaia, Mother Earth, all the aspects of Mother that are always here and available to hold us, cradle us, nurture us and behold us in our entirety.

My own Mother Satarra Paradise, was an amazing woman and my best friend.  We had a close and often intense relationship-she was a powerful and knowing woman.  We also laughed a lot and loved to be together.  She has been gone more than 20 years and I still miss her so.  It is a pivotal experience to become the elder in your family and no longer have your Mother to reach out to, share your day with, or ask to be held by.  It is also a call to embody wholeness, and honor that you have everything you need; right here in your own core and own heart.

How would your life be different if you could Mother yourself, hold awareness of the whole truth of your experience; and call upon the wisdom you have to navigate your course?

What would it be like to be able to give yourself the love and approval you desire?

Where in your life could you be a benevolent Mother to someone else-a mentor or support for one who needs it?  We are all capable of being Mothered, and being a Mother-regardless of whether we have birthed children or not.

I love being a Mother, it is one of my deepest joys and most astonishing learnings.  Blessings and Love to all our Mothers, may we move forward with tenderness and loving kindness for ourselves and our Mother.
